We view Mission Work as the responsibility of the local church—to evangelize the lost and establish new churches at home and abroad. Our missionary program includes personal exposure to individual missionaries and their field of service as well as the opportunity to pray for them regularly and provide financial support through Summit View Baptist Church. We often have new missionaries present their work to the church to provide exposure to a variety of ministries and the strategies to assist these ministries.
Our purpose in evangelism is to disciple people as they come to know Christ and desire to have a personal relationship with Him. We believe that impressive facilities and promotional techniques are secondary to personal evangelism.
We financially support missions by giving to both the missionaries and their sending organizations (known as mission boards). Giving to mission boards directly offsets the administrative expenses involved in running the organization, thereby helping all missionaries sent by that board.
Summit View also realizes that special mission needs arise from time to time and actively seeks to meet those needs. We have recently donated to hurricane Katrina relief; provided money, supplies and man-power to refurbish a house at Source of Light missions; and donated electronic sound equipment for a mission church abroad.
